Micah Bozic began his research journey in the Amazon out of true curiosity, trying to answer a question: why Environmental Defenders (particularly in South America) had become targets for violence. After all, they are trying to save the environment and the world; how is it that they should be punished for this? In the research, Micah seeks to explore Justice and Impunity for violence towards Environmental Defenders. He attempts to contribute the idea of a comprehensive database that rates judicial responses towards situations of violence toward Environmental Defenders. In his hours of research, he ultimately determined that there is a major lack of evidence for local courts in Brazil and Colombia to use for protecting indigenous populations. THIS, is where the drone idea came about. Micah realized that a drone network is how we spread more protection and awareness over the Environmental Defenders that work so hard to save the planet.
